Stamped
concrete is a poured in place concrete which is colored and then
stamped into
a variety of patterns. You the homeowner choose your colors, choose
the pattern you wish to have and together with Concrete Oasis, create
a completely unique and original design for your project. In addition
to your color and pattern choices, variation in concrete consistency
and variation
in the climate at the time of the pour will make your project a “one
of a kind” piece of art.
ABOUT THE CONCRETE
How thick is the concrete?
We use a minimum of 4000 PSI Concrete mix to start. A minimum
thickness of 4 inches for a patio or walkway, 6 inches for a driveway,
1 1⁄2 inch for countertops and 1⁄4 inch overlay for
interior floors.
Cracking…
All concrete has the potential to CRACK. There are two kinds of
cracking. There is a settlement, which is not good and due
to poor craftsmanship and there is shrinkage cracking.
BCC uses
steel rods together with fiber mesh for reinforcement and proper
curing techniques to prevent against shrinkage cracking
and shifting. The Steel Rods add structural integrity which
is especially important in the ever changing Northeastern climates
and the fiber
mesh helps prevent shifting and shrinking.
COLOR
The base color of your concrete is either added directly into
the truck and mixed into the concrete, or sprinkled on top of the
slab and worked
in. The quantity and variety of the colors you choose, together
with the acid washing and sealing techniques will produce a completely
original look. Two to three coats of a matte or gloss sealer
will protect and enhance your color for years to come.
MAINTENENCE
We recommend a good power washing every 12-24 months depending
on wear and tear and a new coat of sealer to preserve your finish
for many
years. Salt and de-icers are never recommended on concrete,
but if de-icing is necessary, we recommend a calcium chloride mix
for concrete
that has been sealed with a high solid sealer.
Snow plows and metal
snow shovels are also not recommended for they have the potential
to scratch or damage the surface. Instead,
a plastic snow shovel blower are recommended. |
